The Housing Alliance took out the NSW Australasian Housing Institutes Leading Innovation Award at a ceremony in Sydney on 26 September 2013.

The award recognises the work of the Housing Alliance in developing an alternative structure to mergers and amalgamations.  The Housing Alliance is a non-entity partnership between Homes Out West (Murray River corridor), Homes North (New England region), Housing Plus (Central Tablelands region) and North Coast Community Housing (Northern Coastal region).

The alliance is an innovative way of achieving scale while maintaining local connections.  Access to a broader knowledge and practice base has increased our capacity to effectively work in our local communities and strengthened the voice of regional housing providers.

The alliance is based on the principle of operating locally and collaborating regionally.  Collaboration through the sharing of resources, knowledge, research and best practice is building the virtual capacity of each member and enables alliance members to effectively respond and innovate in their regional areas.
